South Africa's Black Coffee at Berlin Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

South African Label Black Coffee displayed a well thought Spring/Summer 2010 collection on July 2nd, 2009 at Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. Colors were bold ranging from electrifying blues to oranges. Silk Charmeuse and linen fabrics moved swift yet fluidly on the runway. Designers Jacques van der Watt and Danica Lepen, designers behind the label, delighted German's fashion elite and media with their very clear and concise South African view of today's woman.

What made us fans was their attention to details. Beautifully draped dresses with delicate pleatings, elegant embroidery which included beads on blouses, head accessories in the form of oversized helmets and tulle fabrics that created a certain mystery about the wearer. Black Coffee appeared to give a nod to colonial Africa while recognizing the influences from the Middle East and finally finishing off with modern silhouttes and fabric choices that would appeal to today's Ladybrille woman.
