Inspire Africa Benefit Concert 2009: Protecting Homeless Children

Photobucket

The future of any nation, our children, belong at home with their families with food in their stomachs and roofs over their heads. They also belong in the classrooms learning and becoming the great men and women they are designed to be. Too many times, however, that is simply not the case, especially in a city like Lagos, Nigeria.

Instead and unfortunately, our children-our future, are found on the streets hawking goods, begging for food and sometimes subjected to dangerous, abusive and at times violent attacks on their persons. Thankfully, Africa’s leaders and elites are now taking action to make a difference for ‘the future.’ Nigeria’s talk show host Mo Abudu, founder of Inspire Africa Foundation,an organization committed to providing a home and protecting our homeless children, UNICEF, The Lagos State Government, Zain Corporation and many Nigerian fashion and music celebrities recently gathered together for an Inspire Africa Concert with proceeds benefiting our homeless children.

M.I., Tuface, Asa, 9ice, B’Banj were among some of the names that performed. All funds raised from the event will be directed to Inspire Africa Foundation.
