Sacramento, CA (March 3rd, 2011) Ladybrille Magazine, founded in 2007 to de-stigmatize the negative images of Africans by exposing its youthful, urban and explosive fashion and entertainment industries to the Western masses, honors Supermodel IMAN as its Woman of the Month for its March 2011 Spring Fashion Edition. The Ladybrille ‘Woman of the Month’ is a monthly feature on the online magazine which celebrates outstanding women, locally and internationally, for their brilliant contributions to society.
“Iman’s accomplishments and contributions, from IMAN Cosmetics to her humanitarian efforts, are worth celebrating for more than one month,” said Uduak Oduok a fashion and entertainment attorney and Editor-in-Chief of Ladybrille Magazine. “We are honored, especially as the leading voice for Africa’s fashion and entertainment stories in the West, that she accepted our invitation to celebrate her this month.”
Last year, the supermodel was honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as a fashion icon. As part of the CFDA celebration, Barneys New York creative director Simon Doonan dedicated two of the store’s Madison Avenue window displays to Iman. In February of this year, the Black Entertainment Television (BET) also honored Iman with a service award for her global effort to end violence against women.
“I am honored to be featured as Ladybrille’s Woman of the Month,” said Iman. “It means so much to be recognized not just as a successful business woman, but because I have become so by creating a company that helps women all over the world to feel beautiful. I am inspired every day by the work that I do and feel very lucky. I am proud to say that creating IMAN Cosmetics will be what I will be remembered most for and will be my enduring legacy.”
Iman’s interview will be published on the magazine’s website at www.ladybrillemag.com on Monday March 7th, 2011.
