LOS ANGELES, CA—A new webisode series called “Afro City” created by singer/actress Rhonda Ray( www.rhondaray.net ) is scheduled to hit the net this fall on www.afrocitytv.com
“Afro City” is about a singer name Jazzman Love(Rhonda Ray) and her three best friends who are also her back up singers. One is an art gallery owner(Sabrina Alashi), one a model(Bunmi Ayodele) and the other an earring designer(Ebony Mikila). “Afrocity” follows these three women as they share their lives, mishaps and voices while maneuvering through the big city of Los Angeles, California based in the Art district of downtown Los Angeles. Through good times, death, divorce, triumph and celebration these four Afronistas create a bond that will last a lifetime.
Afro City creator Rhonda Ray says ”The best way to describe Afro City would be “Sex in the City” meets “Girlfriends” with an Afrocentric twist and fabulous fashion to match. I created “Afro City” to show the world that African America women are beautiful with their natural Afro hair without conforming to societies “standard” of beauty. I wanted to bring these beautiful images and lifestyles to the screen that people aren’t use to seeing everyday in the media”. Afro City is a place where art, music, fashion and friends meet.”
