CATWALK MUSIC

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

Cape Town–07 September, 2009 With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just days away, the countdown has begun. Show producers, sponsors, designers, members of the press, models and fashion followers from around the world will convene in New York City as the Spring/Summer 2010 Collections are presented by the likes of BCBG Max Azria, Lacoste, Herve Leger, Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein.
On 11 September 2009, at New York Fashion Week, four designers will participate in the Arise Promise of Africa Collective Spring/Summer 2010 at The Byrant Park Tents, Promenade, New York – 7PM EST.

As with the Arise African Collective Show, held at New York Fashion Week in February 2009, this season the show will include a roll call of top international models and will highlight the work of four African designer labels: David Tlale from South Africa will show as a result of him winning the Arise Fashion Awards Designer of the Year 2009. Tiffany Amber from Nigeria, the joint-winner of the Designer of the Year 2009 prize will return to New York for a second season. Jewel by Lisa, also from Nigeria and Eric Raisina from Madagascar will complete the collective, which is being produced by Jan Malan of Umzingeli, a distinctly African company with extensive international experience.

DJ/Producer Dino Moran also returns to New York for his second season as creative producer and music director. Together with studio partner Charl Kruger, they have woven together an awesome Afro-fusion tapestry of tailor-made music pieces. Fusing together second and milli-second samples from over 200 well known African songs to create a collage of catwalk music, which will soon be heard by a worldwide audience in New York City. The creative and talented duo’s music is indicative of Africa’s cutting edge and modern design.

Arise Magazine was founded on the premise of global style and Africa's cultural excellence, and the Arise Promise of Africa Collective is an integral part of the magazine's ongoing commitment to promoting African talent to a global audience.
