- Bay Area/Central Valley, California{CA}, Dressed in a luxuriously fitted black blazer from Colleen Quen, Ladybrille stands in front of her mirror assessing her looks. Her blazer is paired with an avant garde rich textured fitted pencil skirt made of Nigerian fabric "aso oke", knee length, from Senegalese designer Oumou Sy. She purchased the skirt from Fred Segal in New York. On her earlobes are teardrop silhouette earrings, made by Kathleen Dughi of Mill Valley, CA. Her matching bracelet, also from Kathleen Dughi, pulls her look together. Her hair is styled in a chic braided pony tail wounded around her head like a crown, like Mary J Blige's look on the cover of her titled album "Breakthrough." Ladybrille flashes a confident, sexy bright smile at her reflection in the mirror, grabs her two inch Jimmy Choo black pumps, her black attaché, the one she got from Kenneth Cole made by Kenya design label Rurbano, grabs her car keys and heads to court to begin her day.
- Miami, Florida, Ladybrille prepares for a photoshoot. Makeup artist Toni Payne of Toni Payne Cosmetics out of Los Angeles, CA has just finished applying makeup and now celebrity hair stylist Shea Shea Johnson of "Thaanx to You" salon is working her magic on Ladybrille's hair. Photographer Will Taylor of WTphoto San Francisco explains the shoot and what's expected of her. The shoot is for a spread in one of her favorite magazines, Surface Magazine. On the racks, only a arms length away from her, are clothing designs of various American, Italian as well as African fashion designers including Xuly Bet and Alphadi.
- Manhattan, New York, Ladybrille is on the red carpet for the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award Show. She is dressed in a gorgeous floor length empire waist dress from South Africa’s designer duo, Sun Goddess. Sun Goddess had this dress in their fall collection and the buyers in the States, especially at Neiman Marcus, ate it up!
- Los Angeles, California, Ladybrille just arrived in L.A. to interview an A-list Hollywood celebrity. She plans to go to the interview dressed in a dark wash boot cut Jeans and Nigeria's designer Deola Sagoe’s African print kimono style blouse. She purchased the blouse from Saks Fifth Ave in San Francisco.
By now, you've probably guessed Ladybrille is fantasizing about these African designers having their designs at high end stores in the USA. Nonetheless, I Uduak Oduok, aka Ladybrille have a vision that one day I will have access and options in the States to purchase and wear sexy urban and contemporary African chic designs that take me from courtroom to redcarpet and everything in between. Designs that permit me to reflect my identity and experiences as an African [Nigerian] and American. This blogazine is an active step towards my vision.
