Naira Inks New Deal with Igwe & Co

Notables, Label Executives, and Radio Personalities have often referred to this seasoned artist as “Refreshing and Innovatively Brilliant”, “Naira’s Soon-to-be A Music Icon”, “Amazingly Talented”, and have gone even as far as to say that she is “A Music Legend in the making”! With all that being said, you can understand why IGWE & Co took the opportunity to sign NAIRA.

This new venture is sure to have the eyes, ears, and attention of the world. The new single ‘overDRIVE’ features Konvict Musik’s Artist Riz, and employs a very different approach than what fans of NAIRA have ever heard. Her creative prowess has now extended far beyond the norms of Hip-Hop, R&B, or AfroPop, but to now include ELECTRO! The song itself is robotically sexy and flirtatious! A story about an encounter that has managed to revive her will to love again sending her heart into ‘overDRIVE’. The adrenaline rush, the sensation, the feeling I’m sure everyone has experienced at one point or another. “Defibrillated my senses/Rendering me senseless/Its like you gave my heart a new rhythm to beat/Synergy is Equal”…

After hearing a few tracks from the currently untitled album, I am firm believer that it is pure music genius! The album will feature the likes of Faze, Kel, KenO, Morachi, and Naeto C. Pushing the envelope and trying new things are the motto that NAIRA and IGWE Co are to embark in as they sideswipe the music industry this fall.
Urban-Soul Artist, N.A.I.R.A. holds the title of being one of the few international female artists without a doubt pledging to vocalize her inner thoughts. Cultivating a new era in music, N.A.I.R.A. blends her own style.

Alapomeji’s ZARA does it again: Drops hot new single titled “Mommi Mi”. Shoots video for "The Flyest".

Lagos, Nigeria – Alapomeji Recording Artist Zara is keeping busy these days with her new single “Mommi Mi” officially out and the video for the ground-breaking single "The Flyest" in the works. “Mommi Mi”, the latest single promises to be a fan favorite with a banging beat, metaphorical lyrics, and smooth delivery.

The inspiration for the track Mommi Mi according to Zara, came from wanting to do a song that praises that special someone who inspires us. Upon listening to the beat the first thing that came into mind was “I get it from my momma”, so she was inspired to create an anthem for everyone, honoring the special people who have inspired us, and also making it one for all the enjoy and dance to regardless of their age or gender. At a time where female musicians are “bringing it” in the Nigerian music industry, Zara is without a doubt carving a place for herself as a force to be reckoned with. Her unique style mixes a lot of hip hop, dancehall and oozes sensuality while still keeping it "naija".

“Mommi Mi is not just a club banger or a feel good song” said Toni Payne-Akande, Zara’s manager. “It is a song with a deeper meaning that most people can relate to, most of us have someone we look up to, that person doesn’t have to be our biological mother, it could be someone you admire, that person can be seen as your Mommi Mi”, she said.

"The Flyest" video, shot in Los Angeles, California, promises to be one of the best videos of 2009 with a concept straight out of an unwritten African fairy tale. “The concept for "The Flyest" video is very different, we decided we needed to think outside the box and we found the perfect director and team to give us that. We are trying to stay away from things that are too cliché, so expect the unexpected” said Payne-Akande.

Mommi Mi was written by Zara with intro vocals done by Kid Konnect. It was produced by Dj Teffler for JuvyTek Entertainment and mixed by Brandon Lackey of Mania Music Group.
