1st Annual DIVA Event by Maimah Karmo's TigerLily Foundation
Pink boas, spa treatments, cocktails, a fashion show, shopping, dancing and divas galore was what greeted guests at the first Annual DIVA Night out organized by Tigerlily Foundation to celebrate survivors of breast cancer; as well as support young women affected by the disease.
“To us, a DIVA is Divine, Inspired, Vivacious, and Aware,” explains Tigerlily’s President and Founder Maimah Karmo, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 at the age of 32 and has been cancer-free since founding the organization in 2006.
Women, men, young girls made up the 150 guests who attended the inaugural event. The keynote for the night was Vernice Armour, America’s first African-American female combat pilot, author and motivational coach. In attendance for the night was also veteran radio personality Michel Wright of WPGC 95.5 and Sirius/XM and Ms. Black DC, Breyuna Williams.
